Dog and Animal Bite Cases

If you have suffered injuries after being bitten or attacked by a dog or another animal, and the injury occurred in Maryland, it is important to know your legal rights and your ability to recover compensation.

As a victim of an animal attack, there is no cost to you for receiving medical treatment and legal representation. These cases are handled on a contingency basis, which means that the Insurance company that pays for the injuries, damages and losses in the case, will pay for medical treatment, related expenses and attorney’s fees, and you will be compensated and made whole for the negligence of the owner of the animal or other responsible party.

These types of matters may be complicated as far as establishing everyone who is liable (See Who is Liable in Animal Bite Cases?), the legal defenses that can be raised (See Defenses Raised in Animal Bite Cases), and obtaining and preserving all of the necessary evidence in order to establish and protect your claim so that you receive a full and fair financial recovery. Call me directly at 410-446-6644 or complete the Free Attorney Consultation box on this page and I will discuss, review and evaluate your case with you at no charge.

Sometimes, an injured person does not want to bring a legal action against the owner of the animal under the belief that this will cost the owner of the animal. In the majority of cases, the expenses of the legal claim are paid by the insurance company, not by the owner of the animal. In cases where the attack occurred in an apartment or other leased premises, including commercial property such as a shopping center, liability and financial responsibility belongs to the Tenant who owns the dog, and may also belong to the Landlord as the owner of the property where the attack occurred.
