Common Issues to Avoid
Clients in Maryland have come to my Firm for help reporting the following complaints:
1. Delay by the insurance company in assessing your vehicle’s property damage;
2. Allowing towing yard storage fees to accumulate due to the delay;
3. Delay in moving the accident vehicle from the towing yard to a body shop for repairs;
4. Failing to provide transportation due to your loss of use of the vehicle while it is being evaluated;
5. Refusal to fairly evaluate liability;
6. Denial of liability;
7. Refusal to pay for a rental car when liability is clear;
8. Refusing to adjust your claim unless you provide a recorded statement (See “Recorded Statement in an Auto Accident Case”);
9. Quick and unfair settlement offers;
10. Being directed to their body shops for repairs instead of letting you use the body shop of your choice;
11. Delay in paying property damage bills or in the event the vehicle is declared a total loss, delay in reimbursement of the current market value (See Kelley Blue Book and The National Automobile Dealers’ Association official used car guide, “NADA”);
12. Failing to include vehicle upgrades, modifications, and value added options in the reimbursement of the vehicle after it is declared a total loss.
